Anesthesia and Patient Monitoring

Palmer Lake Veterinary Clinic your pet’s safety and comfort are our top priority. When your pet needs surgery we utilize the latest anesthetic protocols which are individually selected for each pet. We perform pre-anesthetic blood tests to make sure your pet is healthy for the procedure. Intravenous (I.V.) fluids are given to all patients while under general anesthesia. We administer pain medication before beginning the procedure, during the procedure, and post-operatively for the comfort of your pet. Our highly-trained technicians closely monitor your pet’s vital signs with special equipment and manual techniques during surgery and recovery. They watch your pet’s pain levels after the procedure to make sure your pet is comfortable. Patients are sent home with post-surgery pain medication. The majority of our surgery patients go home later in the afternoon, the same day.
